Nuovi arrivi (2003-in corso)

The cycle, born in 1993 and still in progress, tries to tell the crossings of migrants in the Mediterranean, through the transfiguration into the myth of the saving of human lives by whales, turtles and, more generally, of "inhabitants of the sea". Bonomi digs up ancient Polynesian and Hawaiian stories in which the living move on the back of a cetacean, while the dead rest in their guts. It is an incisive way of talking about a very serious and always topical issue through a toy, a plastic cetacean, the same material as the rubber boats that transport migrants to European coasts.
